This song was written from the perspective of someone who is trying to get through life on their own. Day after day racking up more pain and trying to bury it and ignore it and white knuckle their way through life. They don't have the will to live, but they also don't want to die, something that is all too prominent in today's day and age.

They so desperately want to have hope in their life and no longer be the hardened shell of a person that they have become. So they decide to surrender to the One who has been with them the whole time, Jesus!

They begin to pick up the pieces of their life using Jesus as their strength to do so. They finally realize they cannot do this life alone and that Jesus is truly their only hope not only for their life on this earth, but more importantly, their eternity!
